Annual Certification of Good Standing for VA‑Accredited Representatives

Submit your yearly Certification of Good Standing to the VA Office of General Counsel (OGC) to maintain your accreditation. National Care Planning provides this as a free reminder and resource to help accredited attorneys and claims agents stay compliant with VA requirements.

Who must file

Attorneys and claims agents who are VA‑accredited and wish to maintain active accreditation.

What you’ll need

  • Your VA Accreditation Registration Number.
  • A list of every court, bar, or federal/state agency where you are admitted or authorized to practice.
  • Membership/identification numbers for each jurisdiction.
  • A certification that you are in good standing in every jurisdiction where you’re admitted.
  • A commitment to notify VA within 30 days of any change in your status in any jurisdiction.

  • Retrieve your Accreditation Registration Number Go to accreditlist.com ↗ and locate your VA Accreditation Registration Number.
  • Download the form Download the Annual Certification of Good Standing form (PDF). Instructions are included in the form for submission to the VA OGC.
  • Fill out the form
    • Enter your personal and contact information.
    • List all jurisdictions and corresponding membership/ID numbers.
    • Certify you are in good standing in every jurisdiction listed.
  • Submit to the VA Office of General Counsel (OGC) Follow the submission instructions in the form (mail/email/fax details are provided). Keep a copy for your records.
  • Keep your status current
    • File this certification annually.

Regulatory reference

According to 38 C.F.R. § 14.629(b)(4):
“As a further condition of initial accreditation and annually thereafter, each person seeking accreditation as an agent or attorney shall submit to VA information about any court, bar, or Federal or State agency to which the agent or attorney is admitted to practice or otherwise authorized to appear. Applicants shall provide identification numbers and membership information for each jurisdiction in which the applicant is admitted and a certification that the agent or attorney is in good standing in every jurisdiction in which admitted. After accreditation, agents and attorneys must notify VA within 30 days of any change in their status in any jurisdiction in which they are admitted to appear.”
