CLRP Designation Requirements
To qualify for the CLRP certification, you must:
Have professional experience in a relevant field (such as Elder Law, Estate Planning, Home Care, Reverse Mortgage, Care Management, Retirement Planning, working in a care community, or similar professions serving seniors and their families)
Complete self-study training using the provided handbook
Achieve a passing score of 75% or higher on a 50-question exam based on the handbook materials
Pay a one-time $399 fee for study materials and testing
Sign a Terms of Use Agreement for the CLRP™ Designation
Maintain active membership with the National Care Planning Council ($15/month)
Proper Use of the CLRP Designation
CLRP designation holders may:
Use the acronym (CLRP) and the certification statement (“Certified in Life Resource Planning”) on business cards, websites, and literature only as permitted by applicable laws and professional guidelines
Promote services to assist individuals with aging-related planning challenges
Restrictions:
Do not imply additional expertise beyond your current professional qualifications
Do not represent the NCPC as endorsing your business or services
All media promotions must explain the meaning of the designation and clarify that CLRP™ holders are trained to present Life Resource Plans focused on helping aging individuals and their families
Important Advertising Rules:
The CLRP™ designation or NCPC membership cannot be used in any media (including print, digital, or broadcast) for promoting, soliciting, or selling financial products such as insurance, investments, or other items that promise a monetary return
Any advertisement or public communication must comply with NCPC’s ethical guidelines and specify the intended use of the CLRP™ designation
